[:1]I was using femaledwarf today and was looking at my dps increase with the new valor trinket. I checked the dps with the haste un-reforged and reforged, to surprise my dps fell when I reforged for crit. Any reason why this might happen? Ive always been used to stacking my crit and reforging to it when possible.
Further more: do you think I should reforge the piece or stick with the haste?
pve = haste
pvp = crit
hit is more important then anything else cause if u miss you dont do damage.
FD, in part, bases it's haste weight on priority shot rotation. When you reforged out of your haste it probably had to bump around what it judged was a dps loss due to shot priority rotation.
However, don't worry too much about haste in pvp, reforge hit>crit.
And PVE = haste is just plain wrong.
On FD, go to "Settings" > "Display Debug Data" and select the box.
Hit the "Update DPS" button and scroll down. What you will see is FD's simulation shot rotation.
What is likely happening is you are getting a better theoretical rotation with slightly higher haste which is allowing perhaps 1-2 more explosive shots (or chimera/kill command) because the higher haste is causing less delay on said hard hitting shot. Increased haste also affects auto-shot and steady shot/cobra shot so perhaps with higher haste you're getting more of those off too.
You can actually see a count total of each shot fired off in the "Shot Breakdown" box on FD to compare the two simulations directly. Whether or not this would translate to higher actual DPS--I'm not sure. Sometimes it is hard to do the exact theoretical rotation.
Im speaking of PvE guys :)
Giving up more for less as reforging goes, a huge downer as far as I'm concerned, simply adds insult to injury and does not fairly address the real lacking concerns associated with Hunters.
But just in case you haven't tested this yourself on practice dummies, here's formula that speaks volumes:
pet dps + hunter dps = LESS THAN EVERYONE ELSE
Now that you understand the simple built-in deficiency, enjoy the game as it is intended. <g>
